About
Built by a homeowner who lived it.
After was built in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. A burst pipe, a mold limit its owner did not know existed, and months of receipts for temporary housing. After is the guide he needed on day one.

Who writes the guides
Every guide on After is written by Eric, who has spent 20 years working in property and casualty insurance. The guides describe how policies are commonly worded and what homeowners are usually asked for after damage. They are written in plain words, without jargon.
Guides never say whether something is covered. Coverage depends on your own policy, the facts of what happened, the law where you live, and your insurer.
How After reads a policy
After reads your actual policy against what happened. The wording it shows you is quoted from your own documents, with the section or endorsement name and the page it came from, so you can check it yourself.
Findings carry one of a small set of labels — a coverage provision identified, a potential limitation, something that needs more information, or something not identified in your uploaded documents. After never presents a conclusion as covered or not covered.
Who After works for
After is independent. It is not an insurance company, an adjuster, a law firm, or a contractor referral business. Nothing you add is sent to your insurer unless you send it yourself.
Your documents stay private. Here is exactly what happens to them.
Where to start
If something just happened, start on the homepage. To read first, the plain-word guides cover the questions people ask most. To see what has happened to homes near you, open the After Area Map.
